Question by June: Where can I buy a mountain bike quick-release lever for the front wheel?
I have a Mongoose mountain bike and the quick release lever came out and the tire came off and I crashed. The bike is OK, I have a slight crack to the skull, but I cannot find a replacement for the quick release lever. Can I order one on-line?

If you purchased the bike from a dept store take it back and they will at the very least give you a new quick release lever. Next….take the whole rig to your local bike shop and have them show you proper installation.
All of the bike shops I’ve worked in always cooperated with new customers and realized the potential for new and repeat business by educating and assisting people who need it.
Returning the bike to the place of purchase and making them liable is common practice for any purchase. The mechanics at the bike shop will probably find many other things wrong with the bike and will make money fixing them. The dept store will offer to replace or refund, in which case, I would accept a refund and buy a bike from the local shop. Just beware rabid idealists who don’t see the big picture and just may refuse your business.

Of course you can buy online, any good online store has all kinds of parts – but do the repair yourself.
