Off the Beaten Track: North Georgia (Mountain Bike Guide)

First published in 1992, Jim Parham's Off The Beaten Track mountain bike trail guides are still the guidebooks of choice when it comes to mountain biking in the Southeast. This 4th revised edition of OTBT Volume III: North Georgia lists classic riding destinations--Bull Mountain, the Aska Trails, Pigeon Mountain, Fort Mountain, Chicopee Woods, Jake Mountain--plus all the latest trail developments in the region, including the awesome Pinhote Trail.

Detailed maps, concise route descriptions, and the user-friendly format that have made Parham's OTBT guides so popular are all here, along with photos, elevation profiles, and directions to each trailhead. Whether you're a beginning mountain biker or a seasoned expert, you'll find plenty of rides to choose from.

Jim Parham’s guide to North Georgia mountain biking does a good job of including most of the trails a rider may encounter in the northern third of the state. Each trail is laid out on a two page spread, making it easy to copy the page and map on an 8.5×11 sheet to take along with you. All essential information is there, including distances, difficulty ratings, and elevation profiles. The things I didn’t like about this book are: the layout – the book is divided into ‘Easiest’ ‘More Difficult’ and ‘Most Difficult.’ Different trails in one area may fall under each category making it difficult to locate and read on all the trails in a given area. Also, the descriptions are very short, no more than a brief paragraph.
