This hurt- result: fractured knee and deep cuts to knee and elbow. Actually, here's what happened- just before leaving the ground, the bike was turning a small amount. So that caused the rear wheel to drift to the rider's left side in the air. When the bike landed slightly sideways at that speed, it caused the derailer to grab the spokes. Normally since the front wheel was straight (yes it was) the back wheel would have just corrected itself. But since the derailer locked up the rear wheel, it couldnt spin and straiten itself, instead it swung way to the rider's right side, lining the bike to take a dive over the embankment, which was jagged rocks cemented into the concrete. This jump was about 12 feet of air btw.
